Lin Jian announced that China is ready to work towards intra-Palestinian reconciliation

Beijing: China is prepared to collaborate towards intra-Palestinian reconciliation, as stated by Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. On Tuesday, during a regular press conference, the spokesperson reiterated China’s willingness to provide a platform and generate opportunities for Palestinian factions to engage in dialogue for reconciliation.

Furthermore, Lin emphasized that China has consistently shown support for reconciliation and unity among Palestinian factions through dialogue and consultations. This statement was made in response to reports indicating that senior officials from both the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) will convene in Beijing during the upcoming weekend.

Lin Jian conveyed that further details will be disclosed in due course by the Chinese government. He further asserted that China and the concerned Palestinian parties share common goals, and Beijing is inclined to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties in order to facilitate intra-Palestinian reconciliation.

In April, the Palestinian rivals, namely Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah and Gaza’s governing authority Hamas, engaged in talks in Beijing. During this meeting, both sides engaged in an in-depth and candid dialogue concerning the promotion of Palestinian reconciliation.

A statement issued by the Ministry highlighted that during the talks, the two sides ardently expressed their political will to achieve reconciliation through dialogue and consultation. Additionally, various specific matters were discussed, and encouraging progress was achieved.

Both parties expressed deep appreciation for China’s unwavering support for the just cause of the Palestinian people in reclaiming their legitimate national rights. They also expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for its efforts in fostering Palestinian internal unity and reached a mutual consensus on future dialogue, as outlined in the statement.
