Annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) to Commence on August 24

Lahore: The three-day annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) is set to begin on August 24 and conclude on August 26. The event will attract a significant number of federal and provincial government officials, as well as domestic and international visitors. This was announced by Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari, Secretary of the Punjab Auqaf Department, during a review meeting of the arrangements for the Urs at the Data Darbar shrine.

The meeting was attended by Khalid Mahmood Sindhu, Director General of Auqaf, Shahid Hamid Work, Administrator of Auqaf Data Darbar, and officers from various departments including the police, Safe City Authority, Food Authority, LESCO, Municipal Corporation, Health, Education, Traffic, Rescue 1122, WASA, and Civil Defense. Administrator Shahid Hamid Work provided a detailed briefing on the Urs arrangements and the responsibilities of various departments.

He highlighted that during the three days of the Urs, various religious activities will be conducted including Samaa (spiritual musical gatherings), Quranic recitations, Quranic lessons, Sufism lessons, and special prayers for the country and the Muslim Ummah. Security and facilities for the visitors will be managed with utmost care. The main roads leading to the Data Darbar will be cleared of encroachments, with special arrangements for lighting and cleanliness.

Security and Facilities: The meeting emphasized that all concerned departments, important personalities, and security agencies will fulfill their duties diligently. Security personnel will be equipped with CCTV cameras, metal detectors, and other modern tools to monitor the event 24/7. The Food Authority will ensure thorough checks on milk distribution and communal kitchens.

Volunteers, media representatives, and service providers will be issued special passes. LESCO officials informed the meeting that the Data Darbar and surrounding areas will be exempt from load shedding for the duration of the Urs. The police department will deploy 1,300 personnel daily to ensure security.

Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari instructed all department officials to work under a coordinated system throughout the Urs. He stressed that any negligence will not be tolerated. He also mentioned that there will be three separate lines for visitors to prevent any stampedes or disorderly conduct.
