Army Chief Declares Those Who Reject Sharia and Constitution Are Not Considered Pakistani

Pakistani army is striving to eliminate it according to divine commands: General Syed Asim Munir

Islamabad: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has emphasized the importance of peaceful protest and adherence to Sharia and the Constitution of Pakistan. Speaking at the National Ulema Convention in Islamabad, he stated, “If you want to protest, do so, but it must be peaceful. Those who do not accept Sharia and the Constitution are not considered Pakistanis.”

General Munir highlighted that in the eyes of Allah, the greatest crime is “fasad fil ard” (corruption on earth), and the Pakistani army is striving to eliminate it according to divine commands. He urged the public to engage in peaceful protests while condemning those who do not respect Sharia and the Constitution.

He further elaborated on the divine instruction that there should be no compulsion in religion. He advised religious scholars and clerics to promote tolerance and unity instead of extremism and division. He emphasized the need for these scholars to restore moderation in society and denounce “fasad fil ard.”

General Munir also acknowledged Pakistan’s long-standing hospitality towards Afghan refugees, noting that for over 40 years, Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghans. He praised the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed support for the Pashtun community and the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing the issue of extremism, he labeled the Kharijites as a significant threat and advised against antagonizing neighboring Islamic countries because of this menace. He also pointed out that criminal and smuggling mafias are supporting terrorism.

General Munir criticized the spread of discord through social media and asserted that no one would dare to insult the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He vowed that any attempts to create chaos in Pakistan would be firmly resisted.

He declared that no global power can harm Pakistan because the country was created to endure. He advised understanding the importance of the state by observing the situations in Iraq, Syria, and Libya, emphasizing that countless individuals, including soldiers, politicians, and scholars, are devoted to Pakistan.

In his concluding remarks, General Munir rejected Western civilization and lifestyles as ideals, asserting pride in Pakistan’s own cultural heritage. He referenced past criticisms of Pakistan’s commitment to the Two-Nation Theory, questioning the current status of those who doubted it.

Lastly, General Munir expressed profound sorrow over the atrocities committed in Palestine and Gaza, stating that the Palestinian issue underscores the necessity for Pakistan to ensure its own security and strengthen itself.
