LAHORE: Fashion designer Maria B has taken a stand against the controversial web series ‘Barzakh’ by filing a formal complaint with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). She has also called upon the public to raise their voices against the series.

In a short video shared on Instagram, Maria B, accompanied by her sisters and lawyer, announced that she has submitted a written complaint against ‘Barzakh’ at the PTA office. She emphasized that the report was filed to ensure the protection of Pakistani children’s future by calling for the ban of inappropriate and harmful content.

Maria B and her team have urged the public to visit the PTA’s website and file online complaints against ‘Barzakh’ to permanently remove the series from Pakistan and safeguard children.

Previously, Maria B had announced plans to challenge ‘Barzakh’ in court. She was among the first celebrities to speak out against the series, criticizing it for allegedly promoting homosexuality and going against Islamic and Pakistani values.

The controversy surrounding ‘Barzakh’ intensified as other individuals and groups also protested against the series. The Indian streaming platform Zee Zindagi, which produced the series, has announced that it will be removed from YouTube in Pakistan.

‘Barzakh’ depicted two male homosexual characters and was released in six episodes, with the first airing on July 19 and the final episode on August 6.
