Heavy Monsoon Rains in Punjab: 123 Dead, 317 Injured, 292 Homes Affected

Lahore : This year’s monsoon rains have caused significant damage in Punjab, resulting in the deaths of 123 citizens and injuries to 317 others. According to the PDMA spokesperson, the casualties were due to lightning strikes, electrocution, the collapse of mud houses, and dilapidated buildings. Additionally, 106 livestock have been killed due to the rains.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia reported that, as per government policy, financial assistance is being provided to the affected families, and the injured are receiving the best possible medical care. The government has also assured financial aid to farmers impacted by the floods.
DG Kathia further explained that recovery efforts are underway for the infrastructure affected by the floods in the Dera Ghazi Khan Division. Relief operations will continue until the affected areas in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan are fully restored. The PDMA control room is monitoring the situation around the clock.
The Punjab government has allocated emergency funds for immediate relief and repair work. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is working closely with local authorities to expedite relief measures and ensure that resources are efficiently distributed. The government has also called for assistance from national and international aid organizations to support ongoing recovery efforts and provide additional resources where needed.
