Apple Unveils iPhone 16 Series, New Apple Watch, and Updated AirPods
Features an updated design, a polished titanium option, and a new S10 chip: Report
California: Apple held an event at its Cupertino, California headquarters today, revealing a range of new products, including the iPhone 16 series, updated Apple Watch models, and refreshed AirPods.
iPhone 16 Series:
- iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus: The new standard models come with enhanced features but remain a step below the Pro variants.
- iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max: These premium models boast impressive upgrades, including larger screens, advanced cameras, and a new A18 Pro chip.
The iPhone 16 Pro features a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max has an expansive 6.9-inch display, surpassing the previous 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes. Apple highlighted that these displays have the “thinnest borders on any Apple product” and are described as “by far our best iPhone displays ever.” The Pro models also use titanium, which is nearly half the weight of stainless steel and more scratch-resistant.
New finishes for the Pro models include white, black, natural, and “desert.” The iPhone 16 Pro Max also promises “the best iPhone battery life ever,” though Apple did not provide specific details.
The iPhone 16 Pro series is powered by the new A18 Pro chip, featuring second-generation 3-nanometer transistors and a 16-core neural engine that supports Apple Intelligence. This chip is designed for generative artificial intelligence tasks and offers a 17% increase in total system memory bandwidth.
Key camera advancements include:
- A 48-megapixel “fusion camera” that reads data twice as fast.
- A 48-megapixel ultrawide camera for enhanced detail in wide-angle shots.
- A 5x telephoto camera for improved zoom photography.
- 4K video capture at 120 frames per second, the highest resolution and frame rate for iPhone video.
The Pro models also feature four “studio-quality” microphones with reduced noise, optimized for vocal and acoustic recordings, and spatial audio capture. The new “Audio Mix” feature, an industry first, uses machine learning to separate background elements from speech, enhancing audio clarity.
A future update to Voice Memos will enable users to layer additional tracks over previously recorded voice memos, ideal for musicians.

- iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999.
- iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $1,199.
