Central Ulema Council Rejects Foreign Broadcasting Agency Report on Ahmadis
All Religious Groups in Pakistan Operate According to the Constitution and Law
Lahore – Sahibzada Maulana Zahid Mahmood Qasmi, Chairman of the Central Ulema Council Pakistan, has strongly rejected a report by a foreign broadcasting agency concerning Ahmadis. He stated that the report does not reflect the reality of the situation in Pakistan. According to Maulana Zahid Mahmood Qasmi, all religious groups and organizations in Pakistan operate in accordance with the country’s constitution and laws.
During a discussion with various delegations at the Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Islamic Research Center, Maulana Zahid Mahmood Qasmi expressed his views on the report. He emphasized that the foreign broadcasting agency’s report, released to mark the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Ahmadis as non-Muslim in Pakistan, is biased and sympathetic towards Ahmadiyya beliefs. The report portrays Ahmadis as victims, which he claims is not an accurate representation.
Attendees of the discussion included Maulana Muhammad Mushtaq Lahori, Maulana Hafiz Abu Sufyan Hanafi, Maulana Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqi, Maulana Samiullah Rabbani, Maulana Habib-ur-Rehman Zia, Maulana Muhammad Azam Farooq, Maulana Muzaffar Hamid Watoo, Maulana Muhammad Amir Ashraf, and Barrister Muhammad Afzal Sara.
Maulana Zahid Mahmood Qasmi urged that Ahmadis should accept the unanimous decision of the Pakistani Parliament made on September 7, 1974, which declared them as a non-Muslim minority. He emphasized that like all other minorities in Pakistan, Ahmadis have the freedom to live according to the constitution and laws of the country.
He also praised the recent Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Conference held at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, stating that it has strengthened religious forces and uplifted the status of the Muslim Ummah. He congratulated Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the World Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Council and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, along with all religious factions and institutions involved, for the success of the conference. The event, he noted, has brought pride to the Muslim community.
