Fazl-ur-Rehman Wins First Round of Constitutional Draft: Sheikh Rashid
By September 30, the Fate of the Country's Democracy Will Be Decided
Lahore – Former Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid has declared that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), has emerged victorious in the initial round of discussions on the constitutional draft. Sheikh Rashid compared Rehman’s achievement to the historic defeat of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by the late Maulana Mufti Mahmood.
In his comments, Sheikh Rashid criticized those who previously advocated for respecting the vote, accusing them of treating the voting process as a mere marketplace. He pointed out that any undermining of democracy has traditionally been done covertly rather than openly.
Sheikh Rashid emphasized that the crucial date of September 30 will be pivotal in determining the future trajectory of the country’s democracy. According to his analysis, this date will reveal how the political situation will unfold and which direction the democratic process will take.
