LAHORE – Following a decline in petroleum prices, transport fares in Punjab have been reduced by 30 to 70 Pakistani Rupees. Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that the relief from cheaper petrol and diesel reaches the passengers.
According to Bukhari, when fuel prices decrease, Marium Nawaz and her team actively work to reduce fares. “Marium Nawaz ensures that fares are reduced under all circumstances,” she stated, highlighting that Punjab is the only province where excess fares are refunded to passengers.
In accordance with the directives from Chief Minister Marium Nawaz, immediate implementation of fare reductions has been initiated across the province. Teams from the district administration are monitoring fare schedules at all bus terminals to ensure compliance.
Bukhari reiterated the importance of taking strict action against any transport operators charging excessive fares, underlining the commitment to pass on the benefits of reduced fuel costs to travelers. She urged all transporters to cooperate with the government in this initiative, stating that Marium Nawaz is personally monitoring the entire fare reduction process.
