Lahore High Court Directs Deputy Commissioner to Decide on PTI Rally Request by September 30
Lahore – The Lahore High Court has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore to make a decision on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) request for a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan by September 30. The court dismissed the petition following the hearing conducted by Justice Farooq Haider.
The petition was filed by Akmal Khan Bari on behalf of PTI, who argued that their request to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan was still pending with the Deputy Commissioner. The petitioner’s lawyer highlighted that the birthday of PTI founder Imran Khan is on October 5, and they wish to organize a peaceful rally on that day.
The court instructed the government lawyer to ensure that the Deputy Commissioner issues a decision on the matter by September 30. The Deputy Commissioner has also been directed to submit a report to the Deputy Registrar Judicial of the High Court regarding this issue.
This ruling underscores the legal and procedural pathways for political gatherings in Pakistan, particularly in the context of upcoming significant dates for political parties
