Special cell established in Punjab Revenue Authority to boost tax collection

Lahore: On the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, a special cell has been established within the Punjab Revenue Authority to enhance tax collection, and officials have been appointed accordingly.

According to a spokesperson, the primary objective of the special cell is to increase tax revenues and expand the tax net. Advanced data analytics and technology will be used to identify discrepancies in tax payments.

A Large Taxpayer Unit has already been set up to effectively monitor major taxpayers. Non-filers and entities underreporting taxes will be identified, and action will be recommended against them.

The spokesperson added that data sharing with various government departments will significantly boost revenue. An effective monitoring system will also be introduced to improve the performance of field formations.

The special cell will conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with tax laws. Pending recovery cases from previous years will be addressed on a priority basis. A digital reporting system has also been introduced to ensure transparency and accountability, while professional training and capacity building of staff are underway.
