Baghdad (Monitoring Desk): Three Pakistani nationals have been sentenced to death in Iraq on charges related to terrorism. According to foreign news agencies, a court in Rusafa, Iraq, comprised of three judges, sentenced Haider Ali, Omar Farooq, and Shoaib Akhtar to death for their involvement in terrorist activities.
The three were convicted under anti-terrorism laws in two separate cases. Shoaib Akhtar was found guilty of forming a terrorist organization, shooting at a complainant, Shahab Kazim Hassan, and looting his shop. The court also referenced another case where the accused were convicted for the murder of officer Heman Karim Ahmed, who was shot during a patrol.
The convicted individuals have the right to appeal within 30 days from the issuance of the judgment on July 31.
