Public Holiday on September 17 for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (P.B.U.H)
Notification specifies that September 17, 2024, will be a public holiday to mark 12 Rabi' al-Awwal 1446 Hijri
Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has declared a public holiday across the country on September 17, 2024, which falls on a Tuesday, to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of the last Prophet, Muhammad Mustafa (Peace Be Upon Him). This announcement was made through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
The notification specifies that September 17, 2024, will be a public holiday to mark 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1446 Hijri, the day of the Prophet’s birth.
Two days prior, a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad to sight the moon of Rabi’ al-Awwal. The meeting included representatives from the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, SPARCO, the Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Further, Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meetings continued at their designated locations, where decisions regarding the sighting of the Rabi’ al-Awwal moon were made. Subsequently, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced in a press conference that 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal would fall on September 17, which corresponds to Tuesday.
