Indian cricketer faces potential action over alleged dressing room incident

The incident came after Rajasthan Royals ended Punjab Kings’ winning streak

New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been hit by another controversy after reports emerged of an alleged incident involving Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag.

According to Indian media reports, Parag could face disciplinary action following an incident that allegedly took place inside the dressing room, where he was seen vaping during a live broadcast segment.

The incident came after Rajasthan Royals ended Punjab Kings’ winning streak. However, attention shifted away from the match result toward the viral footage showing the captain inside the dressing room.

The video sparked strong reactions on social media, with critics questioning the conduct, particularly as smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in stadiums and dressing room areas.

The matter has also raised potential legal concerns. Under India’s Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019, the production, sale, purchase, import, export, and advertising of e-cigarettes and vaping devices are banned nationwide. Violations of the law can result in fines and imprisonment.

While no official statement has yet been released by the IPL governing council or the franchise, reports suggest that disciplinary proceedings may be considered in light of both league regulations and national law.
