LIV Golf New Orleans event postponed, likely to be rescheduled for September or October

Due to the rescheduling, no LIV Golf events will now be held in the United States

New York: The LIV Golf tournament scheduled to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana in June has been postponed, according to international media reports.

The event, part of the Saudi Arabia-backed Public Investment Fund-supported LIV Golf series, is now expected to take place later this year, most likely in September or October.

Organisers cited multiple reasons for the postponement, including extreme summer heat in Louisiana and the need to further prepare the Bayou Oaks course at City Park to ensure optimal playing conditions. They also noted an effort to avoid scheduling conflicts with major global sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup calendar.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and Secretary of Economic Development Susan Bourgeois confirmed in a joint statement that the state has already paid $3.2 million under the agreement. Of this amount, $2 million has been spent on course improvements, while the remaining funds are expected to be refunded by LIV Golf organisers.

Due to the rescheduling, no LIV Golf events will now be held in the United States between May 10 and August 6.

While speculation continues regarding the long-term future of the series in the US, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil has assured players that the 2026 season remains on track as originally planned.
