Natasha’s British Driving License Declared Invalid in Pakistan in the Car Accident Case
Natasha’s husband, Danish Iqbal, was required to present vehicle documents, driving licenses, and medical records but failed: Report
Karachi: In the ongoing case involving Natasha Danish Iqbal, whose British driving license has been deemed invalid in Pakistan, significant developments have emerged. The police report filed in court has revealed that Natasha’s British driving license is not acceptable under Pakistani law.
Key Points from the Report:
- Invalid License:
- The police have declared Natasha’s British driving license as unacceptable. According to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Licensing and Training, a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for British citizens to drive in Pakistan. Without this, drivers are not authorized to operate vehicles in the country.
- Investigation Details:
- On August 20, a medico-legal officer collected Natasha’s blood and urine samples. However, due to a public holiday for the Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Urs, the samples were submitted the next day.
- Documentation Issues:
- Natasha’s husband, Danish Iqbal, was required to present vehicle documents, driving licenses, and medical records but failed to do so. He did, however, provide blood test reports and a copy of the British driving license. Natasha does not possess a Pakistani driving license, which led to the application of Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code for driving without a valid license.
- Vehicle and Damage Assessment:
- Experts are evaluating the vehicle involved in the accident. The Vice Chancellor of NED University has been contacted to provide assistance regarding the vehicle’s speed, airbags, and other functions. Additionally, the Town Municipal Corporation has been notified about the property damage caused, and a notice has been issued to Gul Ahmed Wind Power Limited regarding vehicle ownership.
- Verification and Legal Proceedings:
- The British Deputy High Commission has been contacted to verify Natasha’s British driving license. Further, a request has been made to the travel history of Natasha’s passport and information from the vehicle’s tracker company.
- Medical Report Findings:
- The police surgeon’s report indicated that Natasha was driving under the influence of ice (methamphetamine) at the time of the accident. She recklessly ran over three motorcycles and one car, resulting in the deaths of Imran Arif and his daughter Amina Imran. Additionally, Abdul Salam and Shane Alexander were injured in the accident.
- Legal Charges:
- Based on the medical report, a separate case has been filed against Natasha under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act. The police report also includes charges under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance for driving under the influence. CCTV footage related to the accident has been sent to Lahore for forensic analysis. The case involves a total of 15 witnesses, including the plaintiffs and injured parties.
Conclusion: The case against Natasha Danish Iqbal is progressing with significant legal and investigative actions. The invalidity of her British driving license in Pakistan and the serious charges of drug influence and reckless driving are central to the case. Authorities are continuing their investigation and legal proceedings to ensure justice.
