Hania Aamir Identifies Indian Account Spreading Fake Videos

Karachi: Renowned Pakistani actress and model Hania Aamir has successfully tracked down the Instagram account responsible for spreading fake, explicit videos of her. Recently, several deepfake videos depicting Hania in bold and inappropriate scenarios went viral on social media. These videos were created using artificial intelligence, featuring a face resembling Hania, leading many fans to mistakenly `believe they were authentic.

Upon discovering the issue, Hania took to her Instagram story to clarify that the videos were fake and not of her. Following this clarification, she managed to identify and locate the Instagram account responsible for creating and sharing these misleading videos.

Hania shared a screenshot on her official Instagram account of the Instagram handle named ‘Anurita Sindhu,’ which had approximately 22,400 followers. This account, created by an Indian user, had over 100 posts, most of which were deepfake videos of Hania.

In her Instagram story, Hania addressed her followers, asking them to report the fake account, as she herself had been blocked by it. Responding to Hania’s call, a large number of her fans reported the account. In reaction to the reports, the Indian user changed the account’s name to ‘Kaur Sindhu.’

Despite multiple name changes, the account, created in September 2022, had undergone 18 name changes over the past two years and was active from Chandigarh, India. The user eventually deleted all of Hania’s deepfake videos from the account.

Hania’s decisive actions, combined with her followers’ support, led to the removal of the offensive content and the identification of the fraudulent account. This incident underscores the challenges faced by public figures regarding digital privacy and the misuse of technology to create misleading content.
