Palestinian Authorities: Israeli Military Targeted the Home of Civil Defense Deputy Director
In Gaza, the Deputy Director of Civil Defense, Mohammed Abdel-Hai, was martyred along with his family due to an Israeli airstrike. According to Palestinian officials, the Israeli military targeted the Deputy Director’s home, resulting in the deaths of his family members as well.
The spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defense confirmed that 83 personnel have been martyred and over 200 have been injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza so far. In the last 24 hours, further brutal attacks by Israeli forces have resulted in the martyrdom of 33 more Palestinians. Additionally, three emergency responders in southern Lebanon were killed in Israeli strikes.
In a separate incident, three Israeli soldiers were killed and an attacker was also killed during a shooting near the Jordan-West Bank border. Following this attack, Israel closed all land routes with Jordan.
Meanwhile, the United Nations’ anti-polio campaign continues in Gaza, with 69% of children having received polio drops in the past week.
Since October 7, 2023, thousands of children in Gaza have been killed by Israeli forces. The death toll among Palestinians has now surpassed 40,972, with over 94,761 injured. More than half of the casualties are children and women. The relentless bombardment has displaced millions, forcing many into refugee camps.
