Imran Abbas faced challenges in India due to differences in Urdu pronunciation

“Indian actors pronounce the Urdu letter ‘kh’ differently due to the influence of Hindi,” says the actor

Karachi: Renowned actor Imran Abbas has revealed the challenges he faced while working in India.

Speaking in a recent interview, Imran Abbas said that he encountered several difficulties due to differences in Urdu pronunciation while working in the Indian film industry. He explained that Indian actors pronounce the Urdu letter “kh” in a different manner, and often say “ki” instead of “ke,” which he attributed to the influence of Hindi.

Imran Abbas shared that while working with Bipasha Basu in Jaanisaar, he was asked to replace “ke” with “ki,” but he insisted on maintaining his original pronunciation, which led to some disagreements.

The actor further stated that he faced similar issues during the filming of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, where he worked alongside Anushka Sharma and differences in the pronunciation of certain words became evident.

Giving an example, he said that he pronounced the word “bewaqoof” (foolish) in its original Urdu form, whereas Indian actors would pronounce it as “bewukhoof.”
