Mumbai: A rare and long-lost film of legendary Indian actor Irrfan Khan has finally been released for audiences six years after his death, leaving fans surprised and emotional.

According to Indian media reports, on the sixth death anniversary of Irrfan Khan, his old unreleased film The Last Tenant, co-starring Vidya Balan, has been made available on YouTube. The film had remained out of the public eye for nearly 25 years and has now been presented to viewers for the first time.

Upon its release, the film received remarkable attention, garnering over 200,000 views within just three days—clear evidence of audience curiosity and interest.

The Last Tenant was produced in 2000 with limited resources. It was written and directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, while production was jointly handled by Neena Dasgupta and Sarthak Dasgupta.

The film holds unique significance in several respects, as it features Irrfan Khan and Vidya Balan during the early stages of their careers. For this reason, it is being regarded as a rare document in Indian cinematic history.

Interestingly, this is also the only on-screen collaboration between the two actors, and it is considered one of Vidya Balan’s earliest works.
