Lahore: Renowned film director and producer Syed Noor has described casting TikToker Jannat Mirza in his film as a “disaster.”
A clip from a recent interview with Syed Noor has been circulating on social media, in which he was asked about the trend of individuals gaining fame through platforms like Instagram and being cast in films based on their follower count, sometimes achieving stardom. He was also asked about his own similar experiment, which did not succeed.
In response, Syed Noor stated that casting Jannat Mirza in his film turned out to be nothing but a disaster. He said the film was made with great effort, but audiences simply did not turn up to watch it in cinemas.
The director added that people might think: “We can already watch her on TikTok, so why bother going to the cinema?”
Syed Noor further remarked that in the past, films had a dedicated audience. People would eagerly wait for a particular actor’s film to release and then go to watch it. However, that trend no longer exists, and audiences today do not wait in the same way for a film starring a specific actor.
